Our Story
Hi, I'm Jordy Rankine, owner of El Monito Cafe.
I spent over 15 years as a chef working across kitchens that taught me one thing above everything else: people remember how you made them feel. When I transitioned into coffee, that never changed. A great cup is just the beginning. What keeps people coming back is the experience around it.
I'm originally from the Cayman Islands, and the “Cayman Kind” hospitality is in my blood. My wife Zoe, a hospitality professional in her own right, runs operations and brings her warmth, precision, and care to every single event we touch. We love brainstorming different flavor profiles and bringing recipes to life for you.
Why El Monito
El Monito gets its name from two of the most important reasons I do any of this: my two kids, my little monkeys. But the name goes deeper than that. Monkeys are social animals. They gather, they move together, they thrive in community. That's the heartbeat of everything we do here. We believe people need spaces to slow down, be present, and actually connect with each other. El Monito is our way of creating that, one event at a time.
